Down and dirty with Abit
Abit has long since been known has a high quality motherboard manufacturer, and they are also the maker of one of the best boards for the Athlon64. The KV8-MAX3 has grabbed my attention recently due to it's plethora of features and Abit's reliability. I am looking forward to perhaps running one of these in the near future. Both A1 Electronics, and LostCircuits have reviews up of this board. I'm salivating just looking at it.
This guy has one bad ass gaming computer. Athlon64 FX-51, Radeon 9800XT both highly overclocked. The Athlon is pulling nearly 3ghz. The 3dMark2001 scores are nearly 30k!!! This just blows my mind. Check it all out here. Too bad the Futurmark link is down, I'd love to see it.

Opteron Server Cluster
AMD has added to it's development center with the addition of an Opteron based server cluster. Cool stuff. None other then Amdmb has the info.
SUNNYVALE, CA -NOVEMBER 18, 2003-AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced availability of an AMD Opteron(tm) processor Model 244-based cluster at its Sunnyvale, Calif. AMD Developer Center. The cluster, ranked number 247 on the TOP500 Supercomputer list, was created to provide developers with a powerful, scalable HPC application test and development platform. AMD collaborated with Arima, Myricom and Racksaver on this project to significantly expand developer resources in the center, and respond to demands from customers adopting AMD Opteron processors in compute-intensive environments.
VIA K8T800 Motherboard Roundup
Having trouble deciding what VIA motherboard you want for your new Athlon64? Then perhaps you should check out the roundup over at digit-life. They are reviewing the Albatron K8X800 Pro II, ASUS K8V Deluxe, Gigabyte K8VNXP, MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R, and the Soltek K8AV2-RL. Try saying that 5 times fast.
Not good enough for you?
If you want Dual 64bit processors but you don't want to use a VIA chipset, you would have been out of luck until now. It appears that Iwill has introduced a dual Opteron board using the Nforce3 250 chipset. Very cool stuff indeed. The Inquirer has the full scoop.
At COMDEX, there was an interesting little beastie on display. In April an unnamed person strongly hinted that you would be seeing dual Nforce3 Opteron boards out near the end of the year. They are cutting it really close, but here is an Nforece3 250 based board with not one, but two sockets. Even if you ask me nicely, Iwill not tell you who makes it.
Pentium 4 Extremely Expensive shortage
It seems that Intel might be throttling the supply of these highly expensive "Extreme Edition" chips.
Sources in the US say Intel has been telling the Tier2 and lower OEMs and other assorted "riff-raff" not to expect P4EE chips until mid-January or so, but that is only the current plan. Unless your name is Dell, I would not expect to get many at that time either.
Fast ram with boobies!
This is some wickedly fast ram coupled with a nice looking rack. Memory doesn't look half bad either! OCZ always has pretty looking stuff.
OCZ was showing off two products of note at Comdex, blindingly fast RAM, and case badges, complete with holders.
The memory is copper clad PC-4500, or DDR566. That should be enough speed for even the most hardcore overclockers. It should run at CL3-4-4-8 at those speeds, but I'll be damned if I can think up a platform to test it on.
